"I have been under the care of the spinal team at Royal Liverpool Hospital for many years. Dr Dematus is part of the team I have dealt with and performed my second spinal surgery. He is a fantastic person, and very down to earth on a patient's level. He shows great care and understanding and listens to you as the patient. He always has your best interests at heart. He has the upmost empathy and really takes into consideration your needs. He offers expert advice and will give you all the options that he considers best for your condition. He has always treated me will full respect and give full explanations as to his thoughts and ideas for your treatment. I can't thank him enough for how he has helped me over the years. In my eyes he is one of the top people in his field of expertise and wouldn't hesitate in recommending him"

Dr De Matas operated on my spine in 2018 after a gym accident. He performed a spinal decompression surgery on me as I couldn't walk. I am now fully recovered and will never be able to thank him enough. He was so kind and reassuring. He alayed my fears and gained my trust. A fantastic and dedicated surgeon. Thank you Marcus.

I cannot stress enough how fantastic Mr Marcus DeMatus has been throughout my whole experience of being in hospital. I am a patient who has been diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome and if it wasn’t for him and his team, I could have been left paralysed and incontinent. Although it is still very early days with regards to how much damage had already been done to my nerves before the operation, things are looking very promising and I dread to think what would have happened if I hadn’t got myself to the hospital when I did. Not only is Mr DeMatus so clever at what he does in surgery, his bedside manner is second to none. He is so approachable, explains things in language that you can actually understand, rather than technical jargon, and has a great sense of humour to go along with it! He has really put my mind at rest whenever he could and I’ve been so grateful for how he has managed to find the time to make so many visits to check on me, despite how busy he must be with his other patients. This guy is my hero and I can’t thank him enough! Mrs Claire Hurst.
